A Testimonial

That with great power, comes great responsibility is a tenet Peter Parker learnt after donning the Spidey suit. I learnt the tenet on donning the role of a Reuters journalist. And, for that, I am quite the superhero now. I have the power to send stocks on a downslide or a climb just as Spiderman brings terror to the baddies and relief to the hapless victims the baddies terrorize. The big difference is that while Spidey’s exploits are rooted in his judgment of the ‘good’ and the ‘bad, mine are based on objectivity, balance and truth. Doesn’t that make me a better superhero than our dear Spidey?

If yes, that’s quite understandable. Peter had to learn all his skills on his own, the poor guy. My story at Reuters was different to say the least. When you are privy to some of the best learning resources in the world, you are bound to challenge, and win over, the best in the saturated superhero business.

There’s a lot of adrenaline-pumping action bound to come your way if you are a superhero; the story is no different at Reuters. I love the thrill of dueling an endless stream of villains in the form of rouge words and figures that must be tackled and made to toe the line.

Of course, Peter has also a lot of fun going about his job as Spidey; he’s flinging himself all over town, chasing Mary Jane, and even indulging in some photojournalism! I might not be performing similar theatrics at Reuters, but just being part of the best news agency on all known life-supporting planets is, I believe, much more fun.

The Daily Bugle of Peter’s world is not exactly the symbol of credibility, the Bugle at times turning against Spidey himself. But what with Reuters being the bonafide symbol of credibility in any world, my business is not hurt. And yeah, talking about business, I shouldn’t forget to also mention, Reuters does pay me better than the Bugle will ever pay Peter!

Perversion Subverted

Don’t feel the touch of reality anymore;
Sense the insect though.
But strange as all may seem,
I wish it were true as
this links the following to before.

The Apple is Smooth Like Honey;
if only there was a cherry to prick,
i’ll wake up in AsSaM,
Oooooooooooooooooo
What a twisted nightmare!

Unrequited

September 7, 2006 at 8:51 am (Poetry)

I think of you;
my heart aches.
Yes, the one your eyes slew;
I writhe in pain
while the ache seeps into my soul.

You’ll never understand,
or more probably I wont;
I know its a lost cause,
but still I hope.

So, at last this carcass meets you;
again, its a Brief Encounter;
At last I look into myself
and watch the ache leave,
wrenching the pith off my heart.
And now, its seeped into my soul.
